COCIN GARKI, KINDERGARTEN (0-3 years)

The class 0-3 is a group full of lovely and exciting experience. It is referred to as the base, the foundation of Sunday School. The idea of the beginning of man comes to mind when you are in their midst. The group 0-3 have so many things in common. They are inquisitive and curious. They love their world, need 100% attention and care, will want the world to stand still for them especially when they have something to express.

Kindergarten (Kids) are moody, they need petting and pampering all the time. To be able to carry them along, you as a teacher must possess the following characteristics:
- Humility
- Love
- Patience
- Be like them
- Like what they like and also see what they see
- Moderate expression
- Endeavor to avoid harsh approach or any unwanted behavior that may catch their attention because of their high tendency to imitate.

WHAT TO KNOW / METHODOLOGY OF TEACHING
- Children in this category can easily be distracted by other activities around them,
- A teacher should not flock issues, in order to drive home this point.
- Their attention span is between 12-15 minutes
- Are your story with lots of action and demonstration in the first 5-7 minutes, use another 5 minutes to emphasis your main point and take home lesson.
- Back your teachings with variety of visuals (pictures), demo and songs.
- At the end of lesson, engage them with game activities, toy play, choruses, TV Bible cartoon and songs.

SUPPORT
- Nannies should be at stand by to assist the kids to wiwi or pupu, change their pampers where necessary.
- The kids should be watched and monitored to know what kind of help they need especially those who cannot talk.
- Kids should be shown attention all the time.
- Carrying, backing and feeding is not optional.
- Teachers and nannies should be careful not to give or show preferential treatment, love and care.
- Babies or kids/bags should have identification and be kept in safe place beyond the reach of children.

RECOMMENDATION
Kindergarten class is one area that will truly test the endurance and calling ability of most teachers if not all. I recommend that every Sunday school teacher be given the opportunity to pass through it. It is a place that love speaks and is desperately needed. Service, kindness and sacrifice is in high demand.
